What You Will Not Find Here
However, before I list what those stages are, I must mention that I am very pleased with the progress that this blog site is making. It is now attracting many visitors and not just from our football club or from a football background in general. Of course, the impish personality in me could up the ante and receive even more visitors to the site by being much more controversial in my work but, this site is still relatively new and I've experienced my share of hot water in the past; I don't particularly wish to revisit that scenario. I don't write about politics (very much!) or religion (very much!), so that's the controversy bits out of the way!
All I can continue doing is what I know best, writing from experience and my ability to find unusual items of interest to research and write about. It's what I have done all my life and I appreciate that, among others, Cray Wanderers previously gave me the opportunity to bring my written work to supporters via their matchday programmes over many years. In addition, I have been fortunate enough to know many good and decent people (and some not so) inside and outside of football, as well as experienced an ample amount of things in my long life that others would pay good money to get involved in, which gives me a plethora of true life stories to choose from to write about.
So, here are the three main reasons why you will not find any match reports on the Wands' matches on this site.
Firstly, as documented elsewhere on this site, I cannot currently attend football matches. The reasons for this are covered in other posts and even on the frequently asked questions page, so I won't bore you with them in this post.
Secondly, this is not what this site is about. Yes, I include quite a number of Cray Wanderers related articles and stories but, I also try to include items that encompass football in general, everyday matters and daily life. This site is not designed to be, nor meant to be, a direct or indirect challenger to the official website. I have been there, done that and spent my time as custodian of the official site between 2003 and 2012 and, while I enjoyed every minute of it, that time has now passed. I guess you could say that this blog site is my way of continuing what I have been advised (but not explained as to why) I can no longer do in Cray's matchday programmes.
And thirdly, you can find excellent match reports by Mark Hunt and his colleagues on the club's official website and, if you attend games at Flamingo Park, the reports are also reproduced in the matchday programmes there. I have no need to replicate them here as well.
I do appreciate receiving messages from visitors about Cray Wanderers (in particular) or other things (in general) as it provides me with an indication that I am doing things the right way. Maybe only my way but then, it is a case of 'my blog site, my rules', after all. My contact details are on the 'Get In Touch' page.
I just hope that you enjoy and remain interested in what I am bringing to this site and continue to visit and read the content.
COYW!
