About Me

Born in the 1950s. Yes, that makes me a Baby Boomer and I am proud of it. What success I have experienced in life I have earned and worked extremely hard for it. Contrary to this, what hardships I have had to put up with in life I neither requested nor wanted. My many jobs have included fruit and veg man, sports journalist, chauffeur, business role player, civil servant, van driver, farm hand (including driving tractors), graphic designer and many more besides.

I was born in Farnborough Hospital near Orpington. I lived until I was 7 years old in Crowhurst Way, St Mary Cray, slap bang opposite St Mary Cray Recreation Ground where, about 20 years beforehand, Cray Wanderers had played for a season or two. After the age of 7 I lived in various places, including Orpington, St Paul's Cray, Harlow in Essex and currently Folkestone. Yes, true to my growing years when I watched the Wands, I have wandered about a great deal. But, here's the rub, I have now spent most of my life in Folkestone, more than all the other places put together. But I always consider St Mary Cray as 'home'.

Now in my twilight years, I am not sure if I will ever get to see Cray Wanderers play at Flamingo Park. That's a real bummer but, hey, I still always keep an eye out for their results and occasionally somebody might load up a video of match highlights onto YouTube so that I can watch what I am missing. Yet I am not alone in being isolated from the club. Supporters of this club from days of yore are scattered across the umpteen continents that make up this planet. Unfortunately, many of us are nearing the end of our wandering journey.
