A new badge for a new reason
But, this week, I have been working on restoring the @craywanderers now 'X' account, in order to support and promote the 'Come On You Wands' blog site, thus bringing the account back into use. This will hopefully have the effect of bringing the blog site to the attention of many 'X' users and, in turn, will equally mean that more visitors will be attracted to this site. There's plenty to read on a variety of subjects, or as many as I can cover, so there's a little bit of everything to satisfy the visitors' curiosity.
The reason why I went against my own better judgment about social media and I decided that perhaps I could resurrect @craywanderers for the purpose of helping it to drive more visitors to this blog site, is that a friend of mine, who has a similar blog site set up to me, mentioned that they could never do without 'TwitteX' (as I now call it) for bringing in many more readership visitors to their site. So I thought, 'it's worth a go', even if it is only for a short period. Yes, it goes against my principles about using social media but, needs must and all that. And herein lies the reason why I have created a new logo/badge to be used on the resurrected @craywanderers 'X' site.
To make sure that @craywanderers is not mistaken for the football club's official online presence, I have redesigned the badge I created a year or so ago, so that it shows the obvious supporter's blog angle. I have kept the viaduct silhouette from the first badge, to continue representing the football club's origins and, I have changed most of the wording to reflect the blog site itself. The end result is what you see at the top left of this page. I am not trying to reinvent the wheel or fool 'TwitteXers' into thinking that the @craywanderers account has anything official to do with the Wands any more. The official 'X' account is still @OfficialWands and I am definitely not trying to muscle in on that; in fact, a block that was mysteriously placed by the football club on @craywanderers in the early 2010s, which stopped the following of @OfficialWands on the original Twitter site, apparently remains extant on 'X'.
Currently there are over 1,100 members following @craywanderers on 'X'. In its previous Twitter heyday, back in the early 2010s, that figure was north of 5,000 and, maybe sometime in the future I am hoping that the level of followers will once again reach that dizzying height. It will take time and, I am not foolish enough to think that it will reach anywhere near that figure overnight but, I am ever hopeful.
